Wrong Hero

A Free Verse Poem

You were the hero,
the champion, the savior.
But not for me.

This was the wrong tale,
I was the wrong story,
so it ended in tragedy.

I’m sorry that in this book,
you were the villain that
I know you’re not.

I was too young, too arrogant
to see who and what
was actually in front of me.
